WOW. I have to say that my last week was extraordinaire. I loved it.
First, all begins with a Picnic. Each year, the Ottawa animation festival prepares a picnic for the animators. Everybody can come and there are Hot dogs, Hamburgers, and beer for free. Just after that, there is a pumpkin competition. People built what they want with the pumpkin. I have some examples.
I have to say that at this picnic, we met the master of animation, Richard Williams. It was memorable.
So, to make it short, Saturday, we saw Ubisoft: Animating for Videogames with Anne Gibeault. They talk about Prince of Persia and Assassin Creed, the animation workflow for videogame, etc. There are over 1000 moves that have to be animated and synchronized to have a fluid animation. It’s amazing how much work they have to do.
We also saw the making of Glago’ s Guest from Walt Disney and Presto from Pixar. Glogo’s Guest is the new short from Disney that will appear just before their new 3D movie, Bolt. Presto is the new short just before the amazing movie, Wall-E. There is so much work that has to be done for a 5 minutes short.
Our day has just begun, after the making of, we had the chance to see Richard Williams’s presentation. It was amazing. We saw some his works that never been seen by anyone. He explains his career, how he began animation and what he is doing now. He also showed us a part of his new DVD of Animators survival kit. For whom who wants to see when The DVDs coming out, you can go to the web site, www.theanimatorssurvivalkit.com.
The last and memorable thing of this weekend at Ottawa is the party. We had the chance to take a beer with Doug Sweetland and speak with him.
